.....Simon waited for Zee Germans... and got an early start on drinking. ..... Simon helped Zee Germans set up their new phone, while we finished up Kitty...
hmmm i wonder how much the early start helped getting the phone setup! i was on hold forever then it seemed to have gotten setup, but i still havent been able to get ahold of them!

When we last left our Germans, they were headed for Five Guys burger joint... after Ryon's party had departed for Burger King, accompanied by Cassie, with our soap... So, we headed to the car wash, cleaned up the cars, and headed back to the shop.
We parked the cars lining the street, and a bunch of little kids came over to check them out. They started calling dibs on the cars, and saying which ones they wanted.
When I walked over to where Zee Germans were waiting, Otti promptly informed me that the beer was locked inside, and he couldn't get to it.
As we walked back over to the cars, I could hear a couple little girls on bikes talking to Lucky, asking which car was hers. When she started saying "This one, that one, and that one..." They said "WOW, are you rich?!!"
It turns out the girls on bikes were running a lemonade stand up the street. Lucky stopped and got a couple cups, then Simon and I cleaned em out.
The kids were so excited, we gave them something like $10.00, after tips. I don't think they'd ever seen so much money.
The next few hours were spent cruising, and enjoying the scenery. Nothing too exciting to write about, so I'll let pictures tell that story.
When we made it around the lake, we stopped at the bar from the night before, and Zee Germans got a couple more pitchers.
Nick was, of course carded, and promptly sent out back, yet again.
More socializing and drinking, until I told Nick to grab a glass and get some beer.... The nosy bartender was watching through the window, and sent him out to the car.
Sorry, Nick.
Back to the shop to get ready, and out to see The Bad Larry's again. Zee Germans didn't have the pleasure the previous night, nor did Nick, and everyone else arrived late.
I think next year we'll stick to karaoke, or a jukebox bar.... With that many people, a show isn't necessary, and we may have insulted "the band" with all our catching up, and meeting.
When the Larrys quit, we headed out for some Karaoke, more dranks & dancing... Tuki and Otti are quite the dancers. Otti even grabbed some lady and started swingin' at the Larrys.
Simon delighted, and entertained everyone with his rendition of The Humpty Dance, Matt did Copperhead Road harder than the guy following him did Rob Zombie, and Lucas sang us some Bon Jovi. Lucky, of course impressed us all with her version Baby, I love you.
Ramzes got everyone on the dance floor doin' My Pony.
"Ride it, my pony..."
Good times were had by all, Zee Germans showed us all how to bust a move, Simon stole the show, and damn near went home with some guy's girlfriend.
Back to the shop, Zee Germans wouldn't stop drinking until 7am. That story's best told in person, but Otti was the first to pass out, which left Tuki with no one to translate.
Otti went out to the car and passed out in the passenger seat, and refused to come inside.. So, we left him out there, and went back in to try and get Tuki to put his glass down.
more later...
Too ugly for the backyard, too classic for the scrapyard.
I'm so Euro, my car has presta valves.

OK, where were we?
...Otti was passed out in the car out front, while Tuki and I were pushing the alarm button on and off, thus turning the dome light on, and off, and on, and off, and on....
Back inside, I was trying to turn the shop lights off, so we could head into the shopartment, and get some sleep, but Tuki wouldn't put his glass down. I turned the light off, then back on, pointing towards the shopartment, and saying exactly what he was saying to Otti when he hit the alarm button: "Good niiiIIIIiiiiight."
He finally set his drink down, and we headed back to get some sleep.
Tuki curled up on the base of a chair, and Lucky tried explaining that he'd be more comfortable if he scooted up, but he didn't understand "Scoot" and handed Lucky the keys to the car.
I motioned upward with my hands, and said "Scootenheimer." and got another "Vas?" in return. Then Nick said "Scootentag."
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
Once we all got situated, and turned the lights off, Tuki said "Good nIIIIIiiiiiIIIIIIIght." ....Waited another 10 seconds, sat up, and said "hellooOOOOooo."
He repeated this ever 10 seconds or so, until Lucky started yelling at him, to which he replied "I cannot...... understand....... English."
He then started doing his best Teletubby impersonations, and continued making fart noises until I laughed myself to sleep.
A short 3 hours later (or less) Otti had found his way inside, Tuki had woken up, and they had both started drinking again.
I woke up to Tuki taking pictures of everyone sleeping, and singing something about "Guten Morgen."
At one point Sunday morning, Tuki grabbed a bottle of root beer, and took a swig of it. His face turned sour, he looked at the bottle, looked at Otti, and asked "BEER??!!"
Otti said "No....ROOT beer."
Tuki looked back at the bottle, then back at Otti, and asked again: "Beer?"
Once he realized it wasn't beer, he tried to hand the bottle to anyone who would take it, then made his way back to the fridge for another can.
That was pretty much the highlights.... as far as I can convey through text... It was awesome having everyone visit. Good to see old friends, meet some friends I'd only spoken to, previously, and to meet some crazy new Germans.
Thanks everyone for coming out, next year will be even more fun, as we'll be going all the way to Maryland, which was non-stop good times when Lucky and I went on our own, and then with RJ.
I know Zee Germans had a good time, so I'm hoping it was good enough to make it back next year, when things aren't so hectic, and we can make the whole trip with them.
Thanks again, everyone, feel free to post pictures, and add anything I missed, or told incorrectly.
Shabby the Shabriolet had escorted him the whole trip without any issues... or top. Winking
To be honest, she has a top, but Matt is a firm believer that a convertible top is to keep the precipitation off the interior, when parked.
That is because it leaks if the top is up, or the top id down.... Machts Nicht
Matt ya know I luvs ya.......
I think it actually leaks less when it's down. I'll get around to installing the brand-new one Lucky gave me one of these days.
Top went up for the night following a blowout coming down the mountainside into Flagstaff. Thanks to Handsome's donation of a jack I'd neglected to pack prior to leaving Phoenix, I was able to put the spare on and drive for about 4 or 5 minutes before that blew the fuck out on me, too. GPS told me I was a mere 5 miles away from a motel with an adjacent tire shop. I contemplated the price of a tow truck at the ungodly hour of 2 in the damned morning, and decided, instead, to see if I'd be lucky enough to find a parking lot to pull into to wait out the night.
My luck often deserts me, but rarely completely. As I rattled and thumped around a curve, I spied a closed gas station on my left. Making sure nobody else was around, I made a thrilling 15mph diagonal beeline for it. Took the opportunity to call the motel and inquire after rates: $60! Nuts to that, I thought: by the time I got the rear wheels off and packed into a cab, I'd end up spending $10 per hour of sleep. Do these people think I'm made of money? The tattered top (more accurately, the ripped headliner and remnants of the horsehair padding) went up, I draped my army coat over my track pants-clad legs, pulled my arms inside my jacket, and cursed myself for deciding against bringing sweatpants and a blanket as a ward against such a scenario. The thought had crossed my mind prior to leaving, but I will slavishly adhere to a schedule and I hadn't the time to grab them before leaving the apartment without making myself a minute or two later than I'd have liked.
Shivering, I managed about 2 hours of sleep in that half-waking/half-dreaming sort of state. In it, I was convinced that Handsome was warning me that the local police were issuing $200 citations for vagrancy, and I'd better duck out of sight should I see any headlights. Full consciousness returned about daybreak, and I was delighted at the prospect of getting some hot coffee to wake my ass up for the calling of tire shops. I confess I lingered, feigning interest in tacky souvenirs long after I'd poured my coffee and withdrawn taxi fare from the ATM. Ten minutes or so later, the feeling had returned to my toes and I was vexed into leaving the convenience mart by a regular who had the audacity to enter the store whistling. What kind of asshole whistles? Seriously. Nobody fucking wants to hear your poor rendition of whatever shitty song is playing in your mind, least of all through such a revolting instrument as your lips, and certainly not at that hour of the day. When I'm dictator of the Earth, whistling will be punishable by death. Those guilty of it prior to appropriate caffeination of all innocent bystanders will suffer death by torture. Slow, bone-drilling, teeth-yanking torture.
And now I've digressed from my original tangential musings that would more appropriately be placed in the random thoughts or drunk ramblings thread. You've come to expect this from me by now. Don't blame me if you sat through it: I didn't hold a gun to your head.
Back in Shabby's seat, with a destroyed tire in the trunk, I tried calling the nearest tire shop listed in the GPS. My reasoning was that, if I couldn't get a taxi, I could at least walk there. They were not only not open yet, but they also had yet to embrace the technology of the '80s and equip their phone with an answering machine that would let potential customers know their hours of operation, should they call while the shop was closed. Coffee and book passed the next hour, at which point I called again and asked for prices on a pair of 175/70R13s. As luck would have it, they could sell me some at around $30 each, if I were willing to wait two days to have them delivered from Phoenix. Damned if they couldn't get a more expensive set there by the afternoon, though. Next shop I called was also closed. The one after?
"Howdy, I'm calling to inquire after prices for some tires in the size of 175-70-13."
"How many ya need?"
"Two."
"Gimme a sec here..."
He figured out the price, including the balancing, disposal, tax, etc. and gave me the exact total. Nice to be spared the bullshit, so I summoned a taxi. You know Otto, the bus driver from the Simpsons? I got his soft-spoken, hippy twin for a cabdriver.
I think there was a point somewhere in all this, but I kinda got tired of typing in its pursuit. Oh yeah, my top did go up at some point, for all the good it did me.
"The best final thought you can have is, 'That would have been so awesome if it had worked.'”

Unfortunately, Sparky and I didn't make it this year. I prefer not to discuss my personal life in the open, but the basics of why I couldn't go, are that my dirt-bag-ex-husband decided not to return my daughter this year after her summer visit, so all my funds and time are being sucked up by lawyer retainers and such. For a guy who hasn't paid a dime of child support ever for my daughter, it was a pretty ballsy, and DUMB move on his part.
Good news, is that I have my daughter back. Bad news, (for him anyway) is that he is about to feel the wrath of a legal system that doesn't look too kindly on assholes who don't take care of their children.
Anyway... due to the family drama I've been going through. it made it simply impossible for me to go on the trip, no matter how badly I wanted to go. And as awful as I have felt for having to let everybody down, in addition to dealing with the situation itself, I just couldn't even bring myself to be posting, and trying to pretend everything was okay.
I definitely appreciate everybody understanding the situation, and the fact that Matt, Nick, Simon, Otti, Tuki, and the other Washington kids came over for the cruise and send off party meant so much to me, and made the disappointment of not being able to make the trip just a little easier.
Those guys are all mad cool in my book.
Sooo..... while I couldn't make the trip this year, it just makes me more determined, and excited to make it happen for next year. We already have at LEAST 3 more SURE road trippers for next year, and I *think* Nick and Simon might just decide to come along as well.... at least I sure hope so...
So yeah... Zee Germans are the only ones who ended up making the trip. Those guys are seriously rad.
Mad pics of the Montana Mk1 Cruise Around The Lake, and send off party to come later this afternoon...

Isn't it funny how Life, and Drama can interfere with even the best laid plans...
For Ex's that don't pay Support, I feel that a C-4 enema is the answer....
Never underestimate what the proper application of C-4 can do to ease the situation.
The Wife and I were just musing about the "ride" and what a Nice vacation it would be to take... But then we have a 3 yr old that comes to live with us during the week and goes home on Friday night, but returns on Sunday evening.
I am sorry that you missed it this year, and I am Extreeeeeeeeemly happy that your daughter was returned.
I hope the Sorry SOB gets what is coming to him in Spades and that any time in the pookie will result in his anal orifice being Stretched. Oh and all his new friends call him "Bitch".
Roses are red.
Signatures are not.
Sorry if your cabby,
Is acting like a snot.

Oh Jean... those boys had us all laughing SO much as well. They really are a couple of good sports.
I totally meant to message you to tell you/warn you about how much silliness and fun that is Zee Germans, to make sure you took some time to hang out with them, but life kept me busy and distracted, and I forgot... but... I'm so glad you ended up spending some time with them anyway without my encouragement.

hahah EVERYBODY knew who they were by the end of the weekend. they got h2oistaff tshirts for having traveleled the longest distance, there is now a thread about them as the best dressed coupled in the h20i events forum. somehow they managed a full tray of chicken from one of the booths....maybe they told them they had a long ride home hahah. I didn't get to say good bye because i think at that point they were hanging out in their undies eatting chicken instead of going out with everyone else...oh well....they know they get huggs and kisses via the internet.
Too bad some of you folks didn't get to make the trip. Glad to hear you got your daughter back, Lucky.
Maybe next year I'll get to meet some of you folks. Hopefully I'll have my 78 running by then, too.
I'll probably be in your neck of the woods for the holidays. Might swing by your place of business to say "howdy", depending on circumstances and shit.
