He's just a greedy fanboy, wanted the cash and attention, then threw a fit when he didn't get it.
This thread's about a car, not a photographer.
Moving along, what's goin on with my pile of shit, Simon? |
Too ugly for the backyard, too classic for the scrapyard.
I'm so Euro, my car has presta valves.

That's just one of those prints they make, isn't it? I've seen ads for those. No brush strokes
Upon closer inspection, the ellipses seem to be handcrafted, but why would he do a Photoshop filter before painting it? Seems odd, and underpriced.

Wombat, thank you for your generous offers, it's appreciated. Apologies for not replying earlier, I'm not able to get online much, and when I do, it's difficult to make out a meaningful post under all the bickering, and bullshit surrounding photography.
You'd think this was facespace, or whatever site all the cool kids are posting on these days. |

the bucket finally got some wrenching action today. its a pain in the back to work on this thing! things so low you are slumped over the whole time, BUT the head was removed today and the progress begins on bringing the bucket back to life! |

figured i would cut n paste this here since this is the buckets thread
the bucket! still looks sexy as always
how it looked when we started
nick noticed something on the fuel injection pump!!!!
we got the scat valve cover off and saw something truly beautiful
once we got the head off, its about what we expected
cylinder head also looked like a typical diesel head, cracks between the valves, but then upon closer inspection saw something that didnt look too good

You said on the phone that there was no sign of a blown head gasket... the surfaces, and coolant lead me to believe otherwise... please tell me you got the coolant out of the cylinders. Â Â
I hope there's no coolant in the bottom end, but I'm willing to bet there is. Â Â
Thanks for your help, guys. Wish I could make it over there. Â |

Looks like the head gasket fire rings have pounded themselves into the head.
Be sure to yank the radiator, at least have it flow tested at a radiator shop, flush it or replace it as needed.
Use a new thermostat and radiator fan switch, drill the t-stat burp hole. Good time for a fresh coolant pump too.
Um, er, Mr. Ugly sir, how much boost did you say that thing has been running? |

Brand new radiator, brand new fan switch, brand new water pump, brand new thermostat, with burp hole. As for boost... how should I know?
What do I look like, some kinda turbo expert? |

thats the idea. ive been way behind the personal schedule i set for myself to get this thing going. its a combo of the house being a solid 30+ minutes away and the fact that i daily drive a mk1 thats a feisty bitch...
that being said im motivated to get this thing done, but it seems to be more than expected. im trying to do this at no cost to anyone, but i didnt make as much parting out the 77 as i was hoping. i have some replacement parts already like the headgasket and head bolts. at this point im triyng to tear the down the head so i can get it to a machine shop to check if it warped or not, but im not sure what to expect with the crap on the #1 cyl... plus testing the radiator and any other replacement parts and this is adding up... |
