Honestly, I'm not digging it right now. Too many clashing colors. Are you going to pull that blue into other parts of the car such as grille stripe, fogs, and maybe bumper rub strips? |

yes. I know it's too many colors, but I'm still deciding what exactly I'm going to change/paint.
I'm debating on painting the car black and doing the hood black/blue plaid. |

That would be sweet, or maybe keep the car white and paint a white/black/blue plaid on it? that would be a ton easier
Either way, plaid hood FTW!!
PS you wanna sell the fogs? |

(The car is actually silver right now, not white) But white was another option that I like better than black.
I think if I paint the Gti badge/stripe blue and do that plaid hood I'd be set. I just gotta figure out how to tape it off so it looks like a good plaid.
and NO WAY!! hahaha, I <3 my JDM fogs.
They're brighter than my headlights are. |

lol colors > me. You  may try other patterns too, like a blue hood with a giant white wolfsburg wolf bleeding out onto the fenders? Idk, I just wish I had more of a beater to try stuff with.
I think if you wanna do plaid properly you should get a vinyl wrap on that ish- taping would be a bish.
and LOL at fogs. Do you have regular sealed beam headlights? |

baha, good idea, wolfsburg wolf would be cool, I'm all about that off-center ish.
Do you have any idea where I can get large vinyl plaid wrap for my hood? I tried searching and really couldnt find anything.
Found a sweet RSX though.
As far as my headlights... i couldn't tell ya. Whatever came on the car when I bought it. I think some 3k Yellow HID's would be pretty sick though. |

Neato! I'd try 3M products. They make cool stuff like that, and they're a Minnesota company!
Otherwise you could go on the -GASP- tex and get flamed into next week. |

Got the donor 1.8t Passat today! Started tearing it apart. If anybody needs any b5 passat/audi parts, let me know. Discounted prices for the 152! <3
Pictures!!!
Motor will be out this week. Debating on starting the swap next week, or going to mk1 madness and starting the swap the week after. Tough decision.. I'm impatient |

I feel an update is in order.
I've been parting out the Passat (or at least taking the parts off of it) for the most part for the last week. I'm just trying to get it out of my friend's garage/yard, before I have two decomissioned cars there
Motor comes out of the rabbit tonight if everything goes well after work |

The GTI on the last day I drove it before I brought it to the garage: Â
The before picture:
Marked up all the wiring with tape as to what is what, and then dropped the trans! (it was a b*tch with that plate between the motor and tranny, kept getting caught. Â The downpipe also really sucked to take off because the bolts were rusted and one was realllly stripped. Â
out comes the motor
Needs cleaning bad!!!
I'm gonna see how it looks after I powerwash it and scrub it. Â If it still doesnt look to good, I might paint it black. Â
Handsome, I <3 the bucket's engine bay so much, I kind of want to do a teal on mine, but I feel like it gets dirty so easily!
I bought a TDI oil filter bracket to replace the 1.8t's so that it'll clear the front motor mount.
Also got a vr6 waterpump pulley so that I can run the waterpump and alternator off of the same belt, and delete the powersteering and a/c. |

Thanks!
So the Intercooler I have is off of an Evo 8...
I've got to mod/ fab some of my front clip away in order to use it, but I don't think it'll be too bad.
Ordered a crapload of stuff from German Auto Parts today... Should be here tomorrow for me to put on! |

Damn, you've been busy.
That bay cleaned up really nicely.
Good luck with the swap... and please remove the license plate from the windshield...before it slashes your face off in an accident.

Thanks you two! I don't think I'm going to paint it anymore. I'm strapped for time and figured I could make that another project next summer. I'm really enjoying this swap so far, there's only a few more things that I need to complete. (Namely find an intake manifold off of an Audi TT 225hp, get the computer chipped, and rebuild my turbo. )
I'm on vacation next week, but I should be able to drop it in the week after! |

Bay will stay the stock color for now, I may get a can of silver paint to touch up the yellow areas, though.
I did some work tonight:
Started working on fitting the intercooler (it's off an evo 8, it's a little big so I gotta cut some stuff out)
I cut out that middle rad support, the intercooler will be the rad support itself once I get some brackets made for it. cut off an existing bracket:
Got a TDI oil filter housing so that I could clear the front motor mount of a mk1. This is a picture comparing the installed TDI to the oem 1.8t housing:
No power steering or fan needed here! So I trimmed the bracket to save on space and weight:
I put got a new thermostat and put the brand new water pump that I had just installed from the 8v onto the 1.8t.
I also got a vr6 water pump pulley so that I can run the serpentine belt. Everything lines up! and you can also see my custom cut alternator bracket
Also took the oil pan off of the ABA i have laying around and bolted that on along with the ABA pick up tube. I'm going to buy a bung from Summit and weld it on for the oil return line from the turbo.
Need to install the timing belt and 16v tensioner that I got as well.
Not going to be able to work on the car next week unfortunately But the week after i should have the turbo rebuilt and hopefully a new intake manifold and oil return line mounted and it'll be ready to bolt into the Rabbit!
Then comes the fun of running intercooler piping.
Thanks for watching! |

I know I know!! It's because I was on vacation all last week with the family! so todays the first day I got to work on it since Two Thursdays ago!!
Oh, how I've missed the 152 and my rabbit this past week
Well enough of that, here's some updatez!
Took the oil pan off so that I could get my machine shop to weld in a bung for a return line from the turbo.
Also took off my intake manifold. I'm gonna have them weld a log onto the runners because I cant find a reasonably priced 225hp TT manifold.
Received my 034 motorsports catch can adapter as well as my catch can, sachs power clutch kit, lightweight flywheel, and hd motor mounts in the mail while I was gone! It's like Christmas!! :D
I also sanded down the engine bay today and primed it. Local paint store will have my paint for me tomorrow (I decided on going the stock color in the bay, LE7Y silver) so that'll be tomorrow's project.
Keep in mind this is just a quick paint job, I'm on a strict time line, I'm only doing this because I have a few days of slack at the moment and even a quick paint job will look better than what it does without one. Engine is on schedule to be dropped in next Monday.
And thanks for watching! It's great to come back to some friendly comments |

oh, and by the way, I'm taking an online class during the summer just to get ahead of the game (something to fulfill liberal studies electives, It's electronic publishing). So I have to write a blog about something, so I conveniently picked my engine swap:
